I had double jaw surgery on March 5th 2025 performed by Dr. Wasson. The entire staff, from Jenn at the front desk, to Trudy (Dr. Wasson’s medical assistant), and of course Dr. Wasson himself, made the experience really wonderful. The team contacted my insurance to get preauthorization for coverage for the surgery and obtained it overnight from my first consultation. Dr. Wasson performed a segmental 3-piece Lefort 1 and BSSO (bisagittal split osteotomy) on me. Having read a lot of horror stories of recovery online, I was incredibly nervous going into the surgery. Dr. Wasson was incredibly patient as I worked through the anxiety of having this procedure done. Thanks to his skill and his care, I can say without a doubt recovering from this surgery has been much smoother and less strenuous than I expected. Out of a scale of 1-10, my pain never exceeded a 5. Dr. Wasson contacted my parents who cared for me during recovery to make sure I was doing well post operation. It’s been evident throughout my experience that Dr. Wasson genuinely cared for me as a person and as a patient. His bedside manner has been warm and he’s been a great support in navigating a surgery that I wasn’t ever sure I’d have the courage to do. The work that Dr. Wasson, Jenn and Trudy did on my behalf has been life changing. 8 weeks post operation I’m so glad I had surgery and count myself blessed to have found a skilled, kind and purpose driven surgeon in Dr. Wasson. Jenn and Trudy made my visits to the office feel world class. They too genuinely cared for me as a person and as a patient. While the liquid diet was difficult for 6 weeks, Dr. Wasson’s regular follow up appointments and encouragement along the way made it feel very manageable. While I am still relatively early in my recovery, the way that Dr. Wasson transformed my underbite into a normal jaw position and boosted my self-confidence has been a life changing experience. Dr. Wasson has continued to collaborate with my orthodontist and has even recommended a physical therapist for me to work with to restore my full range of motion and to continue progressing my quality of life improvements during the recovery.
